Core Values Scholarship

Oct 04,2016

Good morning all!

My name is Jasmine, and I am from a small town in western Massachusetts, but I now live in the glorious city of Boston. I just graduated in May from Western New England University, located in Springfield, Massachusetts, with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and minor in education. I am continuing my passion for psychology and thirst for education right now at Northeastern University. I am enrolled in the mental health counseling master's program in hopes of acquiring my licensure in the next few years to practice counseling in Massachusetts. In order to complete my program in two years I have to continue to take class through out the summer. Unfortunately, financial aid does not cover any summer courses even though they are built into my program and required of me to complete. However, I am very lucky to have received the Core Value Scholarship from Honor Society. This is more than just a scholarship. This is truly a gift, and a blessing. With out this help from my fellow scholars I would not be able to complete my program and go on to contribute to the field of counseling. I am currently supporting myself in Boston, and going to school full time. On top of this I dedicate my Saturday mornings to volunteer at a facility for families and children that promote healthy living and nutrition in lower income areas of Boston. The cost of living in Boston is high, and it is very hard to make ends meet at this point in my life. I work part time at a restaurant, but it is just not enough. I am beyond thankful to have received this scholarship to help pave my way to my goal of graduating with my mental health counseling degree from Northeastern University. Good luck and keep up the hard work to all my fellow scholars out there !!
