An Introduction - A Little About Me

Apr 10,2015

Hello everyone! There are so many things taking place in my world that I barely know where to start. Since an introduction is as good a place as any, I will start by telling you a bit about myself. I am a 31 year old mother of four, and I have 2 Siberian huskies that make it their mission to dig holes in every surface of my home. As if having 4 children and 2 fur babies weren’t enough, I have a full time job and I am a full time student. I am in my third year of college majoring in English. Since literature and words are my passion, I have decided to turn my passion into my career. I plan to work in publishing or work for a magazine in some capacity once I have completed my degree program. Balancing all of the things that I have going on in my life takes discipline, excellent time management skills and determination. I plan to share with you some of the pitfalls of my journey, as well as useful tips I have learned along the way.

Literature was the first thing that I can remember being passionate about. If I was not writing, then I was undoubtedly reading. As a student in high school, my teachers would have to take my book from me before class started because I would try and sneak a page or two of reading in when the teacher wasn’t looking! Like many adolescent girls my musings filled pages of journals and actually still do to this day. As an avid (obsessive reader) I will also be sharing my thoughts on interesting books I have read ranging from how-to books, fiction, and poetry.

As I am sure many of you are, I am an information junky. I love being caught up on current world events, trends in educations and the cultural impact that these events have on society. As a mother, I am always thinking of interesting ways to engage my children in conversation about events that are happening. I think it is so important that each individual take an active role in understanding the world and people around them. Having productive, open, respectful dialogue about current events is crucial to being an engaged, proactive member of society. It is my hope that we can participate in these conversations together and discuss our thoughts on current events.

I have certainly not taken the traditional path in many aspects of my life. In keeping with that theme, I chose a distance learning program when I decided to return to school at the age of 29. Distance learning has turned out to be the best path for me and I am looking forward to sharing this aspect of my journey with you as well.

So there you have it! While I have certainly embarked on quite a journey, I have only just begun. Learning is a lifelong pursuit for me. Each day brings new challenges, new adventures, and new opportunities for growth. I am so excited to share my experiences and opinions with you all and can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my story!
