Honor Society® Expert FAQ

What scholarships are available for education majors?

Education majors can search their college’s education department, school districts, employers, professional organizations, and community providers for scholarships. Some awards focus on a teaching field, grade level, location, or educational goal.

Distinguish a scholarship from a service agreement

Funding tied to teaching in a particular location or role may carry service conditions. The label alone does not tell you whether failing to complete an obligation affects repayment. Read the written terms and ask the administering program for clarification before accepting.

Check whether the award covers your degree and preparation route. Requirements may differ for undergraduate study, graduate programs, alternative certification, or current educators pursuing further education. Admission to a university does not automatically mean every teaching scholarship applies.

Put the answer into practice

  • Ask the education department about current awards.
  • Check degree, credential, subject, and enrollment eligibility.
  • Read any service or employment conditions carefully.
  • Prepare relevant examples from tutoring, work, coursework, or service.

In an essay, explain what you learned about teaching or learning through specific experience. Avoid sharing identifying details about children or students. The achievement inventory can help you select appropriate evidence.
