Like other well-known membership organizations such as AARP and AAA, Honor Society® welcomes members based on interest, not arbitrary qualifications. AARP focuses on retirees, but membership is open to all adults interested in joining and benefitting from its services. Similarly, AAA membership offers roadside assistance and savings benefits to anyone interested—regardless of whether they own a car. Value-driven membership models benefit members through tools, access, and community. Honor Society® follows the same principle: our membership is open to all who are ambitious and seeking opportunity.

A Modern Look at Honor Society Traditions

The first honor society in America was founded in 1776, about 70 years before GPAs existed. Historically, honor societies recognized leadership, curiosity, integrity, and contribution.

Today, some honor societies focus on exclusivity, based on GPA or other membership requirements. But due to grade inflation, many students now exceed those thresholds, making such exclusivity claims outdated.

Honor Society® offers scholarships open to everyone with no GPA or academic restrictions.
