Honor Society® Expert FAQ
What should you do if you are waitlisted?
If waitlisted, decide whether you want to remain under consideration, follow the response instructions, and secure another viable college option by its deadline. Waitlist admission is uncertain.
Treat the waitlist as uncertain while securing a place
Check whether the college accepts updates, requires an interest form, or has restrictions on contacting admissions. Ask about financial aid and housing if an offer arrives later; do not assume the terms will match earlier applicants’ offers. Past waitlist figures can vary widely and are not a prediction for your case.
If admitted from the waitlist, compare the written offer and costs before changing plans. You may lose a deposit at another school. Once you choose, notify the institutions appropriately rather than maintaining conflicting enrollment commitments without permission.
Your next steps
- Respond to the waitlist invitation by its deadline.
- Keep an affordable confirmed option.
- Review aid, housing, and response timing before accepting a later offer.
