About

I am a high school sophomore with a passion for becoming a doctor. I ranked number one in terms of GPA for my grade level and will continue this trend of high academic performance. Currently, I live in a family household with a low income so any form of financial aid would greatly benefit. My goals are to graduate high school and attend a competitive University such as UCSD or SDSU which provides their students with a great education and experience. After college, I am gravitating towards pursuing medical school so I could become a doctor. A doctor is driven, curious, and responsible. They resist the temptation to give up and persist, as a dedicated individual who strives to leave a positive imprint upon their community. I not only possess these characteristics and ambitions but also want to financially support my mother who has tirelessly cared for me. She single-handedly raised my brother and me while caring for her elderly parents and balancing an education. She has been a great motivation in my life, and working in a fascinating vocation such as a doctor would prove that her sacrifices were not in vain.

Honors and awards

  • Heartland Masonic Lodge Award

For ever graduating year, 5th grade, 8th grade, and 12 grade, many schools residing in San Diego would choose a single applicant to recieve an award regarding their academic performance. I was one of the few students to receive this achievment.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I want to pursue a medical path. It is a profession where I can help numerous lives and brighten people's days. The occupation not only allows me to aid thousands of people but also radiates an uplifting and warm feeling in my community. I can create a bond with a patient and restore their health and comfort. Currently, I seek to become a primary care physician otherwise known as a general practitioner. Instead of specializing in a single subject of medicine, I want to be knowledgeable of the whole spectrum and have a diverse variety of experiences. When you have a job or interest that you truly love, it begins to feel like a hobby and not a burden. This is what medical professionals experience and is the reason why I want to enroll in the medical field.

Outside the classroom

During my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, basketball and solving my several Rubix's Cubes. Ever since I was young, soccer and basketball fascinated me. I joined the soccer team of my local recreational center and surprisingly showed great talent in this sport. Throughout my 3 years in the soccer team, I was awarded an MVP, great striker, and great defender certificate. My most fond memory was when I scored a goal four seconds after kickoff. Regarding the sport of basketball, I have never joined a team but practice it on a daily basis using a basketball hoop my brother and I installed. Both of these sports are activities that help me stay in shape and give me time to reflect on my future.

A Rubix's Cube was not so much a physical challenge as it was a mental struggle. The first cube I bought was while walking throughout Walmart's puzzle game aisle. There hanging, was a cheap and noisy Rubix's cube. I saw videos of professionals solving the toy in mere seconds so I wanted to see how much faster I was. This, however, was not the case. Solving the whole cube was the goal, but even fixing a single layer seemed to be an impossible feat. After forfeiting the battle, I threw my cube upon my nightstand where it stalked me every waking moment. Realizing my failure, I decided to not let the cube beat me. With the viewing of multiple youtube video tutorials, learning algorithms, and spending hours of practice, I could finally piece the whole cube together in a time of five minutes. Now I can not only solve a regular 3 by 3 cube in 45 seconds but also a 2 by 2, Pyraminx, and Megamix. Rubix's cubes allow me to display my hard work and test my problem-solving abilities. Cubing has shaped my character and will continue to as I break faster times and innovate new ways to solve one of the 43 quintillion combinations of the Rubix's Cube.
