About

Aspiring to be a fine artist and psychologist, I am dedicated to using my skills to inspire change in the art world. As an African American woman, my goal is to create animated films that show more diversity and equality. Another goal of mine is to give people within the low-income and minority communities a mental health session at local recreation centers. With a strong academic record and a strong passion for the arts, I seek this scholarship to help me move further with my education and to empower my community that they can do anything.

Volunteering

  • • I volunteered at Columbia Elementary School to read children's books to classrooms pre-k, kindergarteners, and first graders. • At my high school, we have a "Treats No Tricks" event every Halloween. During this event, elementary school children and their parents come to the school dressed in costumes, where they participate in activities and receive candy. I dress up in costume, paint faces, decorate doors, and hand out candy. When the event ends, I also help clean up the school. I have been participating in this event for two years now. • As a member of FCCLA, I helped decorate for the Grandparents' Day Breakfast event at my school
