About
My name is Breanna Carter. I am a 24 year old, first generation college student of Native American descent. Currently, I am finishing up my Junior year as an undergraduate student in the Social Work program at Grand Valley State University. Additionally, I have four remaining credits before completing an associates degree in General Studies from Grand Rapids Community College and expect to graduate in the summer of 2021. I will move onto my second semester in the Social Work program at Grand Valley State University this upcoming fall (2021) and graduate with a BSW in May of 2022. I am not a traditional student, however, I remain diligent and driven in pursuit of my short and long term goals. I have a passion for people and hope to use my degree as a tool to better serve the community.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Currently, I am employed as a youth mentor at a local foster care agency. After completion of my BSW, I plan to gain as much bachelor level social work experience I can. I would like to be as versatile as possible with experience working in multiple areas of social work. My end goal following completion of an MSW is to become a licensed therapist and work in private practice.
- Graduate school interests
Following the completion of a BSW, I plan on submitting an application to Grand Valley State University's accelerated master's program.
- Outside the classroom
I take dance and aerials classes year-round. I also love to read, write, make jewelry, knit, practice yoga, stare at my fish, and socialize with close friends. The shore of Lake Michigan is my absolute favorite place on earth. I love to sit in the sand and listen to the sound of waves. During warm weather seasons, I can usually be found at the park with my cat. I also enjoy going on walks in nature. Traveling is a part of who I am. My newest hobby is converting a 2001 Astro Van into a camper.
