About

I have always had a passion for the Fine Arts but never knew where I fit into the Arts. Except, back in 6th grade I was introduced to the art form of photography. At first I was not that interested in the medium, but as I learned about Gordon Parks, I learned a better understanding of the art form called photography. I learned that Gordon only used film photography as his art medium. I specifically remember falling in love with one of his photos called, ¨Place de la Concorde.¨ I remember the diversity in between the color´s black and white and how well they blended with one another throughout the photo to create different rays of gray. I remembered how the lights and dark's would bounce off different objects such as cars, buildings, light poles, and even the street. But that's besides the point, as you can tell I have a very strong passion for this photo and its photographer. As I continued to explore different types of photography I found myself in a bit of a pickle because I loved film photography but I tend to enjoy digital photography as well. As I continued to explore the two art mediums I found that I love landscape photography; it slowly started with the typical plant, then progressed to pictures of places I would visit, and so on. As I continued exploring landscape photography I learned about some different forms of landscape photography like Representational, Impressionism, and Abstract. Doing my research and collecting on my new found passion in photography I began to find myself taking photos of different things whether it be a basket, my chameleon, or just a sky picture. I made it a point to take the time to enjoy the art medium as if it were my own. I guess you can say I see photography as a way to capture and cherish good memories, or moments, or maybe even a nice fruit that captured your eye. I don't know much about photography but I know enough to say it is a hobby or a passion that I hope can take me places all over the world. And who knows, maybe I could get the opportunity to further my education in the photography world.

What I am ultimately trying to say is I have no idea who I am or who I am going to be in the future but I want to take a step into finding my true self and feeding my passion by applying to colleges and scholarships that can help me meet my potential. I view my next chapter going into college as a photograph. One that includes a view of a college campus and a dark room. Plenty of space to add images as I experience something new, moving away from home, and attending college. I hope to get into a college that can provide diversity, or allow me to make a change in the photography field which is predominantly an all white field. Gordon Parks did not have access to a non segregated school. I currently attend a diver-tile school in Montbello, a mixture of people from many backgrounds. I hope to bring this diversity, and my own diversity, to a college to share my experiences.
