About

Brian J. Cervantes Acosta is pursuing a Master’s in Global Management (MGM) with a concentration in Global Legal Studies at the #1 ranked Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona. This unique legal concentration includes 12 credits at the top-ranked Sandra Day O’Connor Law School at Arizona State University. Brian is globally minded, an active leader, and bilingual in English and Spanish.

Brian earned his undergraduate degree (B.S. in International Management) from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where he participated in the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), whose mission is to empower and develop leadership in Latino men and women. Brian’s global interests led to his selection for the International Business Students Global (IBSG) organization. He participated in several IBSG committees, including The Ivan Karp Emerging Economies Program (IKEEP), which focuses on service-learning projects solving major global issues in emerging economies. IKEEP allowed Brian to participate in the Dignity Project partnering with His Royal Highness Chief Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga II of Zambia and His Royal committee to review and provide suggestions for menstrual health management access for women in Zambia.

During his final year at UNM, Brian enlisted with AIESEC in Madrid, Spain as an exchange student. He guided graduate and undergraduate students in global cross-cultural internships, leadership development, and global volunteer exchange experiences. As a Team Leader, he collaborated with AIESEC members in Mexico, India, China, Turkey, and Belgium and was recognized as one of the top team leaders in AIESEC Spain. His local community involvement in Madrid included membership in the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid Consulting Association.

Academically, Brian also obtained two associate degrees (with honors) from San Juan College and was the only recipient in New Mexico of the Society State of Mind Scholarship as Chapter President of the National Society of Leadership Success. At San Juan College, he served as Senator and Chief Financial Officer of the Student Government and was a club mentor for AGAVE. This organization shares Hispanic and Latino culture with the community. Due to his school involvement, he became the face of San Juan College’s “Success Matters” marketing campaign.
