About

Brian Anthony Furr, the charismatic designer of the E-fellows 7th Cohort, is a second semester junior at the University of Baltimore.

Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Furr played guitar recreationally on the New York City subway before and after school as a side hustle. In interviews, he often mentions the similarities of a street performer in New York and a Baltimore City, squeegee kid. He also speaks about how the experience drove his entrepreneurial spirit. Thankfully, Furr received an athletic scholarship for track and field that allowed him to expand and make inroads into reaching his vision.

Furr graduated from Morgan State University with a degree in Liberal Arts. While at Morgan, Furr started two businesses, a guitar manufacturing company Furr Guitars, and the second being Furr4lead, an MDE certified inspection firm for the State of Maryland. He wanted to "give back" to the youth of Baltimore, so he began to volunteer and eventually taught at Living Classrooms in their Fresh Start Program.

He currently teaches multiple programs around the greater Baltimore area, using "My Furr's Guitar." He developed this product after building a guitar with his daughter, and seeing how easy it was for her to play. Meeting her developmentally by scaling down the instrument, and associating the seven notes in the major scale to shapes and colors, made him believe that this system could benefit many students. It is now his mission is to bring his paint, build, play model to schools across the United States, educating and stimulating children's creativity and passion for music arts.

In January 2019, he began Mindful Designs Baltimore, "I knew I was great at instructing students. I knew I loved designing. And I knew that I wanted to work for myself, so I applied for the E-Fellows program at the University of Baltimore. They have encouraged me to become a well-rounded CEO. With this knowledge, I plan to employ people in my community, create a scalable manufacturing company, and create STEAM programming for early childhood development centers. To accomplish my goals I needed knowledge that works in real-world preparation and I found that a University of Baltimore."
