Public Square supports communities after a crisis. They educate the public and create a safe environment for them. During the pandemic, it was their goal to reach out to Latino Communities and inform them about Covid -19. During my internship, I helped translate COVID-19 information from English to Spanish. I also helped Latino communities learn more about COVID-19 by informing them about the actions they should take to be healthy and safe during this difficult time. I worked with other interns to create videos and flyers to display around our town.

The County of Santa Barbara First District Supervisor's Office is in charge of 1 of 5 districts in Santa Barbara County. During my internship, I focused on the science behind the debris flow that happened in Montecito after the 2017 Thomas Fires that devastated the central coast mountains of California. I met firefighters and engineers that assisted during and after this disaster. I also learned what actions they took to save our county.

Girls Inc. is a non-profit organization that creates a safe place for all girls. They advocate for all girls to be Smart, Strong, and Bold. They have after-school programs where they prioritize schoolwork but also teach other important life skills. During my time at Girls Inc, I volunteered at special events such as a family night and a Christmas drive-thru. I also assisted during their summer program with the younger girls. My most important role was advocating for the STEM program to continue yearly. I was determined to have young girls learn more about these types of fields.

The Carpinteria Triathlon is an annual event where people compete in running, biking, and swimming. This event supports multiple organizations and helps the Carpinteria community come together. When I volunteered during the Carpinteria Triathlon, I helped organize and sell merchandise. I spent two full days setting up signs and race tracks for each race. I also worked with other volunteers to direct competitors where to go and to answer any questions that the competitors had.
