About

My name is Bridget Ott and I am a current student at the University of Arizona. I am a Pre-Med student who is majoring in Pre-Neuroscience and Cognitive Science. I graduated from Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona on May 22, 2014. My weighted GPA was a 4.73 on a 4.00 scale. While attending high school, I took enough Dual Enrollment courses to earn both an Associates Degree in the Arts and an Associates Degree in the Sciences from Rio Salado Community College. Throughout high school, I danced for both the Desert Vista Dance Company and the Soul Shock Dance Company at Phoenix Dance Cooperative.

Honors and awards

  • National Honor Society Member

All members of NHS must be in the top 15 percent of their graduating class, and must be asked to join the club during junior year. In my junior I completed over 30 volunteer hours for this club and in my senior year I completed over 40.

  • Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society Member

Induction into this club requires completing six semesters of social studies with an unweighted GPA of 3.00. As a Rho Kappa member, I participated in raising money for events like the Angel Tree and Heifer International.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My post-college goals include going to medical school and then becoming either a psychiatrist, a neuroscientist, or a neurosurgeon. I would like to study the brains of the mentally ill and ideally find a way for patients to handle their illnesses that does not involve so much medication.

Graduate school interests

After college I am interested in attending medical school, particularly the medical school at John Hopkins University.

Outside the classroom

One hobby that I am very passionate about is dancing. I danced competitively as a member of the Soul Shock Dance Company at Phoenix Dance Cooperative for four years. Unfortunately, I could not dance competitively during my senior year of high school due to the spinal fusion surgery I had in July 2013. However, after I was fully recovered, I returned to the studio to take some recreational dance classes.
