Brittany Monio

I'm an EC-130H Compass Call Pilot stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. I began my military career in 2003 at the age of 17 when I enlisted in the Minnesota Air National Guard with my twin sister. While I was enlisted, I first worked in Civil Engineering before later transitioning to Aeromedical Evacuation, and worked my way up through the ranks from Airman Basic to Technical Sergeant. While working as a traditional guardsman in the ANG, I completed several educational degrees and certificates through various schools and was also awarded my Private Pilot license after completing flight training. In 2015, I wanted to expand my leadership skills and made the decision to apply to become an Officer and specifically become an Air Force Pilot. That dream was realized in 2016 when I entered Active Duty and attended Officer Training School, followed by Undergraduate Pilot Training. I completed flight training in both the T-6A Texan II and the T-1A Jayhawk and was ultimately assigned to fly the EC-130H at Davis-Monthan AFB. During this assignment, I've deployed twice and have worked toward completion of my Master's Degree in Aviation Safety. I was also afforded the opportunity to attend the Air Force's Aircraft Inspection Mishap Course which helped to spark my interest in accident investigation and aviation safety management. I hope to someday help improve aviation safety to reduce the probability of aircraft mishaps, while additionally engaging with the public to promote flying and expand on diversity and inclusion in the aviation workforce.
