About

Extracurricular and Volunteer Activities:

• DECA (Grades 10-12): DECA is an Association of Marketing Students that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers within the business field. For our DECA chapter I am the elected Vice President and manager for our school-based enterprise. In addition, I have competed and qualified for district and state competition for the past two years.

• Class Officer (Grades 9,10,12): For three years I have been a class officer within my graduating class. Within our class cabinet we conduct weekly meetings, organize events and fundraisers within our school and community, and lead our class.

• Key Club (Grades 11 and 12): I have been an active participant and member in Key Club for the past two years. In Key Club, we volunteer within our community by organizing and conducting fundraisers and food drives to support local and global charities.

• Big Brothers Big Sisters (Grade 12): In Big Brothers Big Sisters, I was professionally matched with a child who I am not only a mentor to but a friend. We meet once a week and participate in bonding activities monthly.

• Girls High School Varsity Soccer (Grades 9-12): For all four years of my high school career, I have lettered and played on Varsity. As a team, we competed and played in conference and non-conference games within our league.

• Premier Club Soccer Team (Grades 10-12): On my premier club soccer team, my team and I competitively compete in tournaments, college showcases, and league games across Washington and in nearby states.

• First Kicks (Grades 11 and 12): Every year our high school soccer team helps a small organization on Whidbey Island called First Kicks which teaches young children the basic skills and rules in soccer.

• National Society of High School Scholars (Grades 11 and 12): NSHSS is an honor society that recognizes top academic achievers in high schools around the world. By becoming an NSHSS member, I have been provided with additional resources to help me succeed in scholarship, leadership, and service.

Additional Leadership Activities:

• Outdoor Adventure Camp in Europe (Summer of 2016): This most recent summer I applied for a summer scholarship program through the military to go on a backpacking adventure camp in Europe. Out of hundreds of applicants, I was one of the lucky few who received the amazing opportunity. During our journey, we faced multiple challenges that required all of us to be leaders in order to overcome them. Some of these challenges included personal disputes, navigating trails, and working as a cohesive unit. It was undoubtedly the most influential leadership experience I have had so far in my life.

• Student Entrepreneurship Challenge (Grade 12): At the beginning of this year, a couple of my classmates and I created a team to compete in the Student Entrepreneurship Challenge on Whidbey Island. We worked as a team to make, promote, and sell a product for only one week and attempt to make the most amount of profit. Although we encountered several problems such as unavailable selling locations, we ultimately won the challenge after submitting our business plan. The challenge immensely helped us learn how to productively run a real business and implement our leadership skills outside of the classroom.
