About
I am Callie Russell, I am a senior and student-athlete. I have participated in school sports since they became available to me. Before that I played numerous recreational sports starting at the age of three. This has made me a hardworking individual that is good at problem solving to get things done. I am enthusiastic, encouraging, and have been growing in confidence for the past few years.
When it comes to the effort, I always put in as much as I possibly can. Academically, I have always put in the time and the effort to get good grades. While results aren’t always as high as I want them to be, I never stop giving it my all. If I spent an hour studying and didn’t get the grade I wanted, I would make sure to study even more for the next one. In group projects I will always do my part and help others where it is needed.
Graduation is closing in and I want to use what I have learned in school and in sports to continue on into a career where I can help athletes through their journey. This originated back with one of my first injuries. I sprained my ankle after getting fouled in a game, with so much adrenaline pumping through my veins I went back in five minutes later to finish out the game. I was then out for two weeks and the only training I could do were my at home physical therapy stretches. With each injury after that it was more of the same, this created my desire to help navigate athletes through their injuries. While sitting with my physical therapist, we got to talking about what I wanted to do after graduating. During that time, my aspiration to help other athletes only grew. I plan to learn more about the human body during my college journey, along with the proper nutrition to perform at the highest level. Once I graduate, I desire to go into a field of Athletic Training or become a Personal Trainer.
I am one of four kids, all of which have been put through private school since Pre-School. Moving into college all of my finances will be on me individually. I want to create a secure path for my future starting with attending University of Montana in the fall. With residency in Washington and going to an out-of-state university I have been awarded the Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarship which covers forty percent of the out-of-state tuition, leaving me with sixty percent I will need to cover on my own.
I’m going to start with a bachelors and see if I find a strong career after four years, or continue on towards a masters and/or doctorate. I want to set myself up in a career that will allow me to start my own family and be able to provide for them. Where I live it is difficult for someone my age to find a job. I have worked wherever I can in hopes of saving as much money as possible, but I will still need financial support throughout college to get me on a career path that will be able to support me financially.

I am Callie Russell, I am a student at Mount Vernon Christian and graduate this June. After graduation I am going to begin schooling at the University of Montana in the fall. Here I plan to major in exercise science or kinesiology. During my time there I am going to participate in the school’s Christian clubs and get involved with the student body.
After graduating from college I will make the decision to either go into a career immediately, or continue towards a Masters and/or Doctorate. If I go on I will work towards Athletic Training or Physical Therapy. Whichever I do, I want to use my new-found knowledge and abilities to help athletes with injuries and rehab. I have always been an athlete and my desire throughout high school was to be able to help other athletes once I was finished with my own time in sports.- Graduate school interests

Before that I played numerous recreational sports starting at the age of three. This has made me a hardworking individual that is good at problem solving to get things done. Soccer has always been important to me, I started with pee wee soccer at three, continuing on after this with recreational soccer until I was 12. In 8th grade, I began my first year of varsity high school soccer, and club soccer when the season was over. During my time on club, we went from Regional Club League (RCL) to Elite Clubs National League - Regional League (ECNL RL). For Regionals, my team came home with two state titles. For National league I traveled to numerous different states for national tournaments, even making it as far as the national semi-finals the last year I played. Many of these were showcase tournaments and scouted by various college coaches. For high school, I have athlete of the week, along with being selected First Team for two years along with All-League MVP and All-State First Team my senior season. I am the captain of my team and have made it my goal to lead with encouragement while still remaining at a set bar of excellence to remain a hard working team at all times.
With sports comes teamwork, patience and leadership. Soccer has been an outlet for me my entire life, it has made me a better person through the numerous teammates I have had, along with the many coaches that have mentored me from a young age. With years of playing sports at a high level, injuries are something I have endured numerous times. During my Junior year, I went through months of physical therapy after a long soccer season where I worked myself to the max. I loved the physical therapy process, and that cemented my decision to major in Kinesiology or Exercise Science to help other student-athletes like myself.
I have done hands-on work for the past six years while working at The Dahlia House for Anne Long. I did a little bit of everything there, from field prep and planting, to working her booth at tulip town and shipping orders. This increased my organization and problem solving skills. With a history in sports and hands-on work, I have become a strong, independent individual, while still being an encouraging team player. All of this makes me a great candidate for a soccer scholarship.- Outside the classroom
I enjoy pretty much anything outdoors. I'm always down to go hiking, skiing, fishing, backpacking, I'm down for it all. I enjoy reading books of all genres. Fiction, fantasy, romance, thrillers; you name it, I've read it. Other than that, sports has always been one of the biggest aspects of my life. I played soccer and basketball at the YMCA all through elementary school. In middle school I played basketball in sixth grade, covid shut down sports in seventh grade, and in eighth grade I ran middle school track and played high school varsity soccer. Once I began high school I decided I wanted to take soccer more seriously, I continued to play varsity soccer through all four years of high school, along with playing on a traveling club team for the first three years.
