About

I have just received my Associates degree in Computer Science from Virginia Western Community College. During high school, I took advantage of the Botetourt County STEM-H Academy, where I became interested in computer science. I enjoyed learning about computer software and coding in various computer languages. I was also involved in the 4-H teen club. This was a group of approximately thirty members that met monthly to plan community service events such as local food bank distributions. The social interaction in this club over the past several years resulted in personal growth by being exposed to various points of view. I enjoyed working with teens at camp. After

Goals and interests

Career goal

My personal goal is to become a database administrator. This goal originates from my love of program coding and the experience involving databases in my database fundamentals class. I would hope to achieve this goal in five to six years. I have talked to the current Director of Technology Services for Botetourt County about my goal. I told him what career I was pursuing and asked what steps I should take to achieve this goal. He gave me many ideas regarding certifications and colleges I could attend to be successful in the computer science field. I plan on attending Roanoke College in the fall of 2020 to help me achieve this job path.

Graduate school interests

I would like to work as an intern in computer science. This would enable me to gain experience in this field. I look forward to joining clubs to learn more about my classmates.

Outside the classroom

First and foremost, I love working with young children and being a proper role model for them. I have just completed my final year as a 4-H Teen Counselor for Botetourt County. In this position, I had the opportunity to teach youths a variety of learning experiences over a one-week period each year during the summer. In the role of counselor, I was also responsible for taking care of the youths whenever they were not in classes, whether that was in the lodge at night or outside during the day. I was a counselor for five years before I reached the maximum age limit. I enjoy swimming and learning about Marine Biology.
