About

Hi!
My name is Carlos Omkie from West Papua Indonesia, I'm the first generation of Papuans to attend the University of Rhode Island in New England. I came to the United States as a scholarship recipient sponsored by the Papua Province government to educate its young citizens abroad. Also, I'm the first generation in my family to finish high school, college, and the university and even coming to the United States or all foreign land. One of my biggest dream is that in the future, I want to see that we live in a society where there is no differences such as, most important is the economic inequality, class differences, racism, wars of any forms & kind, everything that we consider inhumane, that we are ONE PEOPLE regardless of anything goes. When I was a kid, my father always telling me to look beyond my personal space, and look for the one far behind the crowd, look for the marginalize one, look for a single mom with a cry child and not the gentle right in front of me. That was the most important principle of humanity that my father who I can't look down at him with whatever degree I may have with him. In this globalizing world, the richer are getting richer while poor are getting poorer and poorer. So how are we going to equalize this proportional inequality? The COLLECTIVE action are needed to solve such a simple but complex issue.
