Carrie Ahmad

As a graduate student at the University of Denver, I am pursuing a lifelong goal of achieving a Masters degree that allows me to help organizations at a deeper level. I have spent the last 18 years gaining valuable HR and business experience; and now through my degree program I am focusing on developing my skills in leadership, innovation, and strategy.

Through my professional experience I have realized the significant influence HR can have on organizations and people when we approach critical business issues with an eye on understanding the business at its core, and from that knowledge we lead business and people initiatives that create a win-win situation for organizations. I come alive when I am working with senior leadership, line managers, and employees to develop change strategies, communication plans, and financial strategies that drive positive and effective organizational changes. This is the future of HR to me – being a partner in vision casting, business planning and the implementation of strategic change that moves businesses forward.

Learning to articulate the advantages and limitations associated with innovation through the strategic planning process, as well as learning how to align financial planning and management with the vision and goals of an organization will significantly increase my knowledge base and skills in business and in HR. Through earning my M.S. degree in Leadership and Organizations at the University of Denver, I am achieving my goal of supporting organizations now and in the future by advancing the strategic focus of HR within organizations and with individuals.
