Cassandra Hernandez

I began my education at Coastal Carolina Community College in 2010, earning my associate degree in arts in 2012. I took a break to raise my two children and then had to postpone my education in order to financially support my family. I worked at the United States Postal Service for seven years. I resigned when my son became ill, picking up a part-time ELL tutor position at a middle school close to where I live. I worked in this position for almost one year, again resigning to support my son's health. I unfortunately lost my son on January first of 2023. While fulfilling the ELL tutor role, my passion for education was reignited. I applied to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and began my elementary education degree. I am passionate about teaching and learning. This is evident in the awards I have earned throughout my education. I hope to pass on that passion to all the students I encounter in my future.
