About

My goal in life is to be the Ms.Frizzle I wish to see in the world - to teach through hands-on experience, science projects, community gardens, and student-led projects that teach my students to be compassionate, empathetic people who are confident in themselves and their ability to make a difference. I have worked with children in some capacity for over a decade, and seen the way they flourish when given gentle guidance, encouragement, and space to feel seen, safe, and known. My long term goal is to do ecological archaeology between elementary school years, and to continue pursuing my passion for education through role playing games.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I will be working in elementary schools during the school year, and working as an ecological and social anthropologist during Summers - to combine my love of teaching kids with my love of social sciences and bettering the world through responsible stewardship.

Graduate school interests

I have been accepted to the Graduate Teacher Education Program! Over the next year, I will be working on my Master's in Elementary Education, as well as working in my Portland Public School student teacher placement. I also hope to independently design an educational anthropology project based around childrens' development through role playing games.

Outside the classroom

Historical Reenactment (Victorian and Elizabethan), Dungeons and Dragons (both as a player, and a kids' Game Master), writing, botany and salve-making, candle making, reading, plant identification and sustainable harvesting, hiking, camping, native plant ecology, ecological restoration, video gaming.
