About

I plan to graduate at the end of the semester with a double BA in History and Integrative Studies, with minors in Sociology, Military History, Black Studies, and Sub-Saharan African Studies. I have a 3.81 overall GPA and I’m a member of several honor societies including the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (of which I am the chapter president), National Society of Leadership and Success, HonorSociety.org (highest honor member), Ankh Maat Wedjau Honor Scoiety (Black Studies honor society), Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology honor society), and will be inducted into Phi Alpha Theta (History honor society) on April 17th. I have also competed Leadership University and will complete Victor’s Volunteers and apply for membership into Norse Leadership Society within the next week or so. I have previously been awarded the Ed and Betty Foster Endowed Scholarship for History and the W. Frank Steely Travel Abroad Fellowship.

During my time at Northern Kentucky University, I have served as a Justice on the Judicial Council of the Student Government, President of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, President of the Multimedia Club, and Vice President of Public Relation for the Association of African Charities. I have also been a member of many student other student organizations including Students Together Against Racism (STAR), Afro-American Studies Club, First Nations Student Association, Kiksuya, NAACP, Black United Students, Black Men’s Organization, African Student Union, Sociology Club, Philosophy Club, SWERVE, and the Ethics Bowl Team. I am also a member of the National Council for Black Studies, African American Intellectual History Society, Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, and the Kentucky Alliance Against Racism & Political Repression (of which I am a former board member). I recently attended the 41st Annual Conference of the National Council for Black Studies in Houston, Texas and was inducted by Dr. Maulana Karenga into the organization’s Maat Wedjau Honor Society as only one of 8 students inducted in 2017. The honor society required a 3.5 GPA in Black Studies/Africana Studies coursework, a 3.0 GPA overall, and a letter of recommendation from a professor within the Black Studies program.

I will also be presenting at this semester’s Celebration of Research, and 2 of the 3 projects that I will be presenting are from the History Department. One focuses on the intellectual history of pseudoscientific racist ideologies and their effect in bolstering Western imperialism and colonialism on the African continent. The other focuses on the Chu-Han Contention period of ancient China’s history, in which the Golden Age of China was born as the abolition of slavery was upheld through the defeat of pro-slavery feudal lords. The third presentation, from the Anthropology Department, is an ethnographic study of a micro-culture utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. There is also another article that I am making a final revision on for the upcoming issue of Phi Alpha Theta’s Perspectives in History academic journal regarding a historiographical evaluation of Sir Chancellor William’s signature work, “The Destruction of Black Civilization”, in which I evaluate it strengths and shortcomings while placing it in both a socio-historical and academic context. There is yet another article that I have in the final revision stage, a 30-page article about Madagascar’s Rebellion of 1947, in which the United States may have secretly funded an insurrection against the French-controlled government of colonial Madagascar during the Cold War. Also, my research of the Chu-Han Contention period of ancient China has so far yielded a 141-page rough draft that I plan to eventually flesh out into a book during grad school. I plan to enroll in graduate school at Northern Kentucky University upon graduation, to pursue a Masters of Arts in Public History (MAPH).
