About

In May of 2024, I graduated from Northwest Career and Technical Academy (NWCTA) in Las Vegas, NV. Throughout my four years of high school, I took mostly Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment classes, allowing me to achieve a 4.8 GPA, I was an active member of both Student Council and The National Honor Society, and I was enrolled in a Hospitality and Marketing Program, which gave me certifications in both fields. Currently, I am enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) through their Journalism and Media Production Program. I am working toward my goal of becoming a director and screenwriter.

Goals and interests

Career goal

For as long as I could remember, I have always wanted to make movies. Each and every one I have had the privilege of watching has had a remarkable impact on who I am and how I see the world, and it
is my greatest desire to create art in the form of film for others to connect with. I am currently enrolled in UNR's Journalism and Film Major to get and develop the skills, practice, and resources necessary to
become equip to sucessfully make, edit, and develop my own films. With these skills and other resources from my school, I plan on finding an internship in the immediate future to better improve my abilities and find the connections I need to find a job in film after I graduate.

Graduate school interests

At the moment, I have no interest in Grad School.

Outside the classroom

One of my biggest hobbies is learning! Ever since I started kindergarten, I have loved learning as much information as I possibly can. I enjoy reading books on new subjects or topics I have yet to read about, I love watching new films or video essays that make me think/educate me, and I adore trying new activities and foods. I will always be a life-long learner, and all my hobbies revolve around enriching my mind (reading, writing, etc.).

Volunteering

  • During my time volunteering with this company, I did multiple things that enriched my own life. At the Animal Foundation, I helped care for sick animals by playing with them, making toys, and donating food and supplies. I was lucky enough to adopt a cat and dog from this foundation, and because of my connection to them, I felt encouraged to volunteer and recommend adoption to others searching for a new pet.

  • From August of 2020 to May of 2023, my family fostered my two nephews from Washington. During this time, my family received a tremendous amount of help from Foster Kinship. Foster Kinship is a company founded by foster families that work to help others provide for the family members they are taking care of. They provide families with clothes, toys, furniture, and food, and they host workshops, festive events, and activities for families. Because of the help they provided to my family, I decided to volunteer for their organization. I worked closely with Foster Kinship to host workshops and activities, help run “pop up shops” where families could come and get free necessities, and care for foster children.

  • At the Opportunity Village, I volunteered to assist the organization in setting up their Christmas and Halloween festivals. Although the Opportunity Village works to provide those with mental illnesses and disabilities with jobs and opportunities, they accept volunteers to help them set up events and activities, as well as assist those in need. Every Halloween and Christmas, they put on a huge event with games, rides, food, etc. and I would volunteer to help decorate, run the rides, or make food. It was always a great way to celebrate the holidays and help others!
