About

I believe in a new world order anchored on the fear of God, where racial frontiers, national borders and tribal dichotomy, will be played down for the synergism of one humanity. When this becomes the case, the envisaged common brotherhood of the human race under the fatherhood of God, will emerge practicably, thus ensuring the rebirth in the sun of the 'MANIFEST DESTINY' of mankind under the midwifery of our common unanimity. In this way, SERVICE will replace religion while LOVE will become the new dogma, because every true religion, teaches SERVICE which is LOVE in practice.

The foregoing has influenced my style in service delivery, which is why, from 1990-1998, when I worked with the State Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) as a producer/scriptwriter and reporter, I dedicated time and energy to promoting programmes with human angles. Between 1998-2000, while having a brief stint with an oil producing firm, MoniPulo Nigeria Limited, as a Community Relations Officer, it was dedicated to community development. Between 2000-2002, while serving in the government of Akwa Ibom State as Commissioner for Information, I provided leadership by mobilising media managers and resources to play a proactive and leading role in the formulation and implementation of emerging world information order and policies to ensure a stable, vibrant and well informed polity as well as enhance value communication of modern trends and development among the citizenry, etc.

In a nutshell, I have endeavoured to make the best use of the opportunities presented before me, giving service to my assigned duties, becoming dexterous in broadcasting/public relations, setting new standards and emerging highly priced in service delivery, resulting in being saddled with more higher leadership responsibilities. Therefore, looking back at my various astronomical rise to leadership positions at the expense of some more qualified persons, I often come away with the impression that, this wouldn't have been possible without a price, and this price is ‘service.’ In drawing this conclusion, the words of Woodrow T. Wilson, which pontificate that “There is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed,” inspire me to a much further conclusion that, more service, will fetch greater rewards. Consequently, I am dedicated to service especially in the areas of providing leadership and sustainable rural development.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am a graduate of humanistic studies, involved in tutoring youngsters in leadership for development. This is informed by the dawning realities that, of all the maladies bessetting Africa, the greatest albatross is bad leadership. Though this is presently being done provisionally, my intention is to run the tutorials on a permanent basis.

Therefore, among others, the expected results in embarking on this venture, include but not limited to; having managers of our rural organisations in Africa, think globally, but act locally as well as putting in place modules for checks and balances to restrict leadership excesses and recklessness in the management of rural development.

Graduate school interests

To further equip myself with scholarly theories and intellection to advance valuable tutorials to those who pass through me, I have applied to the University of UYO, Nigeria, to study for MSc in Social and Rural Community Development and and also to the University of Roehampton, UK, for MPA. Also, this higher studies, will familiarise me with empirical formulas to become more skilled and professional in community service, management, advocacy and scholarship. Equally, it is aimed at expanding the horizon for the study of rural development growth models in order to develop a vision of the future of the rural communities in Africa. And in the long run, my taughts in leadership, will inturn be scientificallg exposed to the know-hows in harnessing both human and natural endowments of a given community or neighbourhood, in an African setting; for optimum service and productivity aimed at establishing the commonwealth as a roadmap to redefining and modernising the age-long 'communalism' of African people.

Outside the classroom

Consequent upon the spiralling compulsion to lessen barriers and open the frontiers of development for all humanity, as our world continues a path to ever increasing globalization, the need to identify opportunities and modules for sustainable rural development, becomes imperative. While the challenge of scarce resources for the optimum development of the human environment, remains endemic, there exists no limits to the capability of man to use knowledge and ideas to change the world for the better. To this end and amidst other hobbies such as inspirational speaking, conflict resolution/crisis management, etc, my mainstay has become the search for modules for rural development structures, to change from working to optimise communities to working to optimise people for sustainability - a shift from viewing the human community as that which is to be exploited to that which we live and have our beings. This is aimed at expanding the horizon for the development of a vision of the future towards recreating a sustainable wealth for the rural communities in Africa. The search for such modules, has dwarfed other hobbies.
