As of today I am in progress of applying to Kean University for their Master's of Science program in Physician Assistant Studies to move forward with my long term goal of becoming a surgical physician assistant (PA) professional.
Considering PA programs are competitive, it seemed ideal to have an additional route of education to continue practicing high levels of patient care. Therefore, if I am unsuccessful with my first attempt to enter a PA program, I will attempt again during the next enrollment period. However, while waiting I will look toward earning a license as a registered nurse (RN) from an accelerated nursing program (preferably 1-year program) and attempt to gain experience as a scrub nurse.
Once accepted and a MS-PA is obtained, I will further make the steps toward a career as a surgical PA professional by obtaining cardiovascular and thoracic specialty certifications which will allow me to practice in a surgical PA role.- Outside the classroom
