About

I am a registered nurse “born & bred” from Savannah, GA. I married my high school sweetheart twelve years ago. We have a beautiful, sassy daughter, 3 dogs and 1 turtle. Over the past year we moved into my childhood home and completely renovated it into our forever home.
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2011 and began working briefly as a Medical/Surgical nurse, followed by several years in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. Eventually I transferred into the ICU setting, where I obtained three national certifications in critical care nursing, neuroscience nursing, and stroke care nursing. Last year I became the Stroke Program Coordinator for my facility and have loved every minute of it. I enjoy teaching & sharing my experiences with my colleagues as well as the quality measure aspect of the job. I look forward to more opportunities to continue developing our stroke program and provide neurological specific education for current & future nurses.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to obtain a Masters of Science in Nursing with the focused Nurse Educator track. My goal is to become a certified Clinical Nurse Educator and transition our stroke program from Advanced Primary Stroke center to a Thrombectomy-Capable center, to ensure optimal care for stroke patients within our region. It is an ambitious and challenging goal that I look forward to meeting. Eventually I would like to explore the leadership & administration role in healthcare.

Outside the classroom

In my spare-time, I enjoy being outside and spending time with my family & friends out on the water. I love watching & playing sports and am a huge Georgia Bulldog lover (Go Dawgs!) I also enjoy trying new restaurants and exploring my hometown city as a pretend tourist- there is always something to discover in Savannah.
A personal goal I’d like to get back to is running marathons. Before my daughter, I ran several half & full marathons including the Disney Marathon in Disney World.
When I am not reading articles or research for school & work, I enjoy reading mystery & suspense novels, as well as fantasy & paranormal book series although now-a-days I do most of my leisure reading via audiobooks.
