About
My name is Crystal Labad, and I am a third semester graduate student at Prairie View A&M University. I am also a very proud Alumni of the university graduating from Prairie View in 2008 with my bachelors in Criminal Justice. In the past, I have worked for Child Protective Service, Tarrant County Mental Health, and Mental Retardation, and now Tarrant County Safe Haven working with children who have experienced traumatic domestic violence. My primary goal is to complete my master's program successfully and obtain my LPC Licensure, with a goal of working with children that have critically ill diseases particularly sickle cell disease since I was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 3 months. I absolutely love working with children and making a difference in the lives of others.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My primary goal is to complete my master's program successfully and obtain my LPC Licensure, with a goal of working with children that have critically ill diseases particularly sickle cell disease since I was diagnosed with the disease at the age of 3 months. I absolutely love working with children and making a difference in the lives of others. I am also very interested in counseling and law enforcement as it relates to children so I am also looking into child forensic interviewing.
- Outside the classroom
My hobbies include doing volunteer work with my church, sickle camps, and working with my very own Non-Profit Organization Crystal’s Fight. I was blessed with the amazing opportunity to have my own Sickle Cell Camp which is named Camp Crystal’s. Camp Crystal is in Houston, Texas, and it provides the opportunity for children living with sickle cell disease a week-long experience to have fun, build their confidence, increases self-worth, self-esteem and it also allows the campers to meet other campers who’s also living with Sickle Cell Disease. In addition, I am also very involved with volunteering at Camp Jubilee as a Camp Counselor which also gives children from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area the same experience. A week-long adventure to be around other children just like them. In 2016, I started my own Non-Profit agency that provides the Dallas/Ft. Worth community with awareness, education, advocacy, and fundraising in attempts to find a cure and enhance individuals living with disease quality of health, life, and services.
