Goals and interests
- Graduate school interests
I currently undecided about graduate school, however I am not closed off to the idea. I have been contemplating it and have decided that I am going to apply for graduate school this year but take at least a year of gap to adjust to a career. I feel that the time off will help me gather more experience and gain knowledge that I can only learn by working in the field and giving 100%. After becoming comfortable with my new position, I will reconsider attending additional schooling to complete my MSW.
- Outside the classroom
I enjoy making people smile and sharing my love of Jesus with others. This love helped me develop a December Acts of Kindness tradition two years ago where I spend every day of December doing at least once intentional act of kindness. Some of these include, writing as many hand-written Christmas cards as I can (last year I wrote 200 and the year before about 150), another includes paying it forward, baking treats for the public service officials in my community, and delivering flowers to the hospital to give to a patient of the nurses' choice.
I have a huge love for children so I love spending time with my four nephews and the daycare kids that I used to work with. I built amazing relationships with many of the children and families and have had many parents stay in contact with me. I am passionate about wanting to help children and change their lives which is what helps fuel my love for social work.
I love animals and have two cats that are named Murphy and Stella. Murphy acts more like a dog and Stella is both shy and wild. I cannot wait to graduate and have more free time so I can hopefully add a dog to the mix.
I enjoy being outside whether I am hiking, attempting to play golf with my boyfriend, or planting flowers in my garden.
I enjoy bowling with my friends, as well as my boyfriend and his family every week.

Volunteering
-
I have volunteered on many occasions in the past but in the last couple of years I have began doing what I can on my own to help others. Some examples are as follows: My friend and I put together over 50 sandwiches and delivered them to homeless individuals in Bloomington, IN. Another friend and I went to a local walking trail and picked up trash, filling multiple 100 gallon trash bags. I occasionally volunteer at my church for varies events, such as helping with children's church and filling Christmas shoe boxes. Prior to taking charge of finding ways to help others on my own, I have completed a multitude of volunteer hours doing the following: Volunteering at a local soup kitchen (more than once) Helping plant vegetables, trees, and paint for an up-in-coming local park Picking vegetables and pruning a garden to collect food for local soup kitchens Mentoring during special track and field (four years in a row) Tutoring younger students Raking an elderly woman's yard (multiple times)
