About

Hello, my name is Cynthia Turner and I am senior at the University of Alabama majoring in Public Health with a concentration in Health Education & Promotion, and minoring in Food & Nutrition. I am graduating in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences and I am looking forward to starting my career in the Public Health field. I am originally from Paducah, KY which is located in Western Kentucky. Growing up in a small town I saw the increased need for nutrition education especially in the lower income communities. I was fortunate enough to grow up in an upper class section of town that provided me with an education on exercise, nutrition and an overall education on healthy living. As a teenager, I would volunteer at the local extension office through the University of Kentucky. I would volunteer at events such as "Healthy Me Days" at local schools throughout the community. While I was visiting schools in the lower income communities I realized that not everyone was as fortunate as me. With a Public Health major and a minor in Food & Nutrition, I believe that I can make a difference. I see the public health career field as a way for me to be able to assist people to live better and healthier lives.
