About

I finally finished what I began many years ago and achieved my undergraduate degree at Columbia College in Criminal Justice Administration. The break in time came due to prioritizing a growing family and the available time to dedicate to my own education. Once all six of my children were raised it was time for me to finish what I had began so many years earlier. After completing my undergraduate studies I made the decision to challenge myself further by achieving a Masters Degree in a University with top notoriety in my field of study. After carefully researching the alternatives, I came to the conclusion that UC Irvine was the best in Criminology studies. I applied and was accepted into their Masters program and I intend on achieving this degree at about the same time that I'm eligible to retire from the Montana Highway Patrol. I plan to use my education and experience to further our understanding of crime and how it relates to society.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Upon completion of my Masters degree and retirement from the Montana Highway Patrol, I plan to teach undergraduate and graduate studies primarily on-line but also at the University of Montana. I would like to use my degree to assist in community problems associated with crime and will look for opportunities to advance societal understanding of crime as it relates to juveniles in particular.

Graduate school interests

Although there are very few things that I don't find fascinating in the criminology field, I seem to be most interested in juvenile crime and our prison system. I'm particularly interested in successful programs with youth offenders and believe there should be more time and research dedicated to cognitive behavioral therapy as I see this as a more holistic approach toward reducing juvenile crime,
