About

I have devoted the last six years to my college education and raising my children. There have been many, many challenges, but I have not given up. Determination, resilience, and support from others, including several scholarship benefactors, have helped me to reach this point. My goals have continued to evolve and change as my life has brought changes in me. I now not only dream of becoming an elementary teacher, but also teaching in rural poverty and low-income schools. I am going to continue my education, even once I begin teaching, and specialize in Special Education. It requires specially trained and experienced teachers to help the many students that struggle with mental, physical, academic, and/or behavioral disorders. Special Education services can literally make or break children and their educational journey. I know that by continuing my education after I begin teaching, I can make an even bigger difference in children’s lives. I will inspire a love for learning and skills in overcoming hardship and failures, I will share my love for teaching and learning, my empathy and compassion, and a determination to help the future generation to be successful.
