About
Darius King is an upcoming senior at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. He's formally followed a consistent path down the road of Creative Writing since the second grade, but has explored other art forms such as theatre and music. Black, first-gen, and San Diego born and raised, Darius plans to pursue his love for writing in college, not only to make an impact on the world with his art, but also to give back to his community in the future.

YoungArts Novel Writing Merit Award
Over 7,000 teens across the US submit applications across 10 different artistic disciplines to be selected by a panel of professional artists. From the few hundred winners, I was selected as a Merit award winner under the Writing discipline.

Third Place Winner of USD's 2020 Essay and Poetry Contest
The University of San Diego posted a prompt that asked high school students to address how their character developed through the pandemic. From hundreds of teenage applicants, I was selected as the third place winner for my essay response.

Editor in Chief of SDSCPA The Production
I was appointed the position of an Assistant Editor in Chief of our school's news magazine by my Journalism teacher. I was named AEIC, but I took on the roles of an absent EIC, and in my second year, was promoted to the Editor in Chief. I delegated tasks

I intend to pursue a steady uphill career path that supports my interest in the art of Creative Writing and Journalism. My ultimate goal is to be a well-known fiction author, but until then, I plan to work in various fields of writing such as magazines, local press, and teaching English.
