About
Hello! My name is David Rihn. I am from the small town of Yancey, Texas, but I am currently attending The University of Texas at Austin in The Capitol City! I am a freshman Honor in Advanced Nutrition Science student with a strong interest in health, law, food, and people. Transitioning from my small farm town to a city as busy and live as Austin was quite an adjustment, but I am loving all that the city and my university has to offer!

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My intended job path is currently working as a lawyer or government affiliate with the USDA or FDA. I would really enjoy this field of work because I grew up in a very agriculturally based household. We have cows, donkeys, and I even raised goats for eight years. Food and health is a field that everyone relies on, yet many times it gets dismissed quicker than it should be. I hope to lobby for health advocation and help others learn about the priceless work that farmers and ranchers put in to feed a growing world. Although, I also have my "fun" job path in mind to: working for Food Network! I love food and cooking, and I also love the limelight! I think it would be amazing to have a TV show were I could share my information about health an agriculture on a digital media. Since Food Network is a very rigorous industry, I know I can't just jump in without credentials or experience. In order to get a feel in front of a camera and communicating nutrition and science I plan to start a YouTube channel where I do just that! I would be overjoyed to speak about fitness, health, recipes, and nutrition to individuals of all ages so that they may reap the amazing benefits our world has provided for us!
- Graduate school interests
My interest in a specific graduate school is still a bit uncertain since it is my first year in undergrad, but I do have a good idea of law school that I will be applying to. I am considering The University of Texas at Austin, UCLA, Baylor, Penn State, and even Harvard and Princeton! I understand the risk associated with applying to a school as rigorous as the latter two, but I think that if I never apply in the first place, then I wasn't in the race to begin with! I have all of these schools in mind for their academic prestige, location, and opportunity for networking. I am actively communicating with a pre-law advisor at UT where her and I are able to discuss options about graduate schools and what they have to offer in terms of academic output and job opportunities.
