Goals and interests

Career goal

My career path is focused on progressing from academic leadership into broader system-level leadership where I can influence teaching quality, organizational effectiveness, and public service delivery across institutions.

Short-Term (1–3 years)
I plan to continue strengthening my work in post-secondary leadership by expanding responsibilities in academic administration and faculty development. This includes leading program quality initiatives, supporting instructors, advancing learner-centred teaching practices, and contributing to institutional planning and decision-making. At the same time, I will continue building my leadership coaching practice to support professionals in developing self-awareness, communication, and decision-making skills.

Mid-Term (3–7 years)
My goal is to move into senior academic leadership roles such as Associate Dean, Dean, or Director of Teaching and Learning. In these positions I want to guide program strategy, curriculum development, and organizational improvement initiatives. I aim to lead projects that improve student success, strengthen organizational culture, and align institutional practices with community needs — particularly in rural and underserved regions.

Long-Term (7+ years)
Ultimately, I aspire to hold executive-level leadership roles (e.g., Vice-President Academic, system-level director, or public-sector executive leadership). In these roles, I want to influence policy, organizational design, and leadership development across multiple institutions. My objective is to help organizations operate more effectively while remaining people-centred, ethical, and sustainable.

Across all stages, I plan to maintain a parallel role as a leadership educator and coach, ensuring my work continues to focus on developing people as well as improving systems. My overall career direction is to bridge education, leadership, and public service so institutions can better support individuals, communities, and lifelong learning.

Graduate school interests

My graduate studies focus on the intersection of education, leadership, and organizational improvement. I am particularly interested in how learning environments, leadership practices, and institutional structures can work together to improve outcomes for both individuals and communities.

A primary interest is teaching and learning in post-secondary education. I want to deepen my understanding of learning theory, instructional design, assessment, and inclusive teaching practices. I am especially interested in learner-centred approaches that increase engagement, support diverse learners, and improve persistence and success, particularly in rural and underserved regions.

Another major interest is educational leadership and faculty development. I want to explore how leaders can support instructors in improving teaching quality while balancing accountability and autonomy. This includes mentoring, coaching, professional learning communities, and creating psychologically safe environments where educators can experiment and grow. I am interested in how leadership culture influences teaching practice and institutional effectiveness.

I am also drawn to organizational systems and policy. Institutions often struggle not because of lack of effort but because processes, incentives, and communication are misaligned. I want to study how governance, decision-making structures, and change management influence performance in complex organizations such as colleges, healthcare systems, and public agencies.

Finally, I have a strong interest in human-centred leadership and coaching. I want to further explore how self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and ethical decision-making affect organizational climate and outcomes. My goal is to better understand how leaders can create environments that are both high-performing and supportive.

Overall, my graduate school interests aim toward one purpose: improving how organizations help people learn, work, and thrive by combining evidence-based teaching, effective leadership, and thoughtful system design.
