About
I went back to school at the age of 53 with the main objective of keeping my mind sharp. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe I could achieve a 4.0 GPA, mainly because I have also had epilepsy for 46 years during that period of my life. Living my whole life and refusing to let seizures and the side effects run my life, I pushed on, gaining more motivation with each course I completed with an "A." I graduated from the University of Phoenix with my Associate of Arts in Business in 2008.
Up until I went back to school, I had raised my five children on my own while working two jobs most of the time. During my time at the University of Phoenix, I was pursuing my Associates of Arts in Business degree, working full-time, and caring for both of my seriously ill parents. Although this was a heavy workload, I looked forward to my classes. My classes were also my way of coping with my daily life. I used what I learned throughout my lifelong experiences and used them in the classroom. Learning more and more each day became like an obsession, and to this day, I put what I have learned to use in some way.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I graduated from the University of Phoenix with my Associate of Arts in Business in 2008. I continued on with the intent of receiving my Bachelor's in Psychology. As I entered my senior year at New Jersey City University (NJCU), I had accumulated 99 credits towards my degree, still maintaining a 4.0 CGPA. Unfortunately, my physician decided that it was in my best interest that I no longer work or continue working towards my degree. I was, and still am, devastated. I had future plans at NJCU. I had already been working in the Dean's Office of Arts and Sciences for many years. I learned how to help students with their academic schedules, realizing that quite a few were being misinformed by what classes they were required to fulfill. With the assistance of the Assistant to the Dean, I would check to see that no classes were being taken twice, usually under a different name with transfer students. After seeing students graduating at the average time of six years, and doing the work I was with the students and their schedules, my ambition was to eventually become the Manager of University Advisement. My goal was to retrain all office staff on how to advise students properly so students would graduate in a timely manner. Although I cannot work or go finish my degree at this time, I am hopeful I will be given clearance to complete my degree in the future.
**As a side note, NJCU's Vice President of Academic Affairs would call me to let me know she was impressed with how I was progressing. She indicated that she would help me achieve my goals once I graduated.- Outside the classroom
