Dr. Demitria Stafford

My name is Dr. Demitria Stafford. I have recently completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Abilene Christian University. My educational background has gone from a graduate of Victoria College where I received my associate's degree in nursing to the University of Texas at Arlington where I received my bachelor's and master's degree in nursing. I have been in the nursing profession for 16+ years. My position is Director of Medical-Surgical Service Line, including the management of the daily flow of 3 nursing units, 3 nurse managers, and the supervision of over 210 full-time equivalents (FTEs). My organization is surrounded by supportive and motivated individuals who have increased my drive to continue my education, and now I see myself motivating others to advance even further in their degrees or specializing in their field of study as well. I look forward to increasing my knowledge in all aspects of nursing by traveling outside of the acute setting to being a powerful influence through leading and advancing the nursing profession. There are plenty of ways to make a difference and help out in healthcare, and I would like to learn more than one. The future for me is becoming a director of a nursing unit, eventually leading to the heights of administration with possibly becoming a Chief Nursing Officer, and later becoming an educator.
