About

I am a doctoral candidate at Concordia University in Portland Oregon. I began my education in 2007 after the birth of my daughter. I realized that I needed a change in careers and being an executive assistant wasn't my true dream. I needed to fulfil my dream of becoming a teacher. In 2012 I received my special education teaching credentials and started teaching. From then on I couldn't stop learning and wanted to stay in school. In 2013 I received my first master's degree in special education. I sought my second special education degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney online because I sought additional knowledge and I wasn't sure if I was ready for a doctorate. In 2016 I began my journey for my doctorate at a local university. I have taken on ground classes, but decided to take online classes because the online classes were not realted to the field of study that I was interested in. I have two years to finish my doctorate and hope to finish it with at least a 3.8 GPA. I enjoy education and learning and seek out any opportunities I can while in my career of teaching. I work with a variety of children in special education. I work with children that need supports in reading, writing, math and social skills. I focus on children first. I have found that while the laws are aimed at supporting children, the real world of teaching is so much different from college. I want to be a leader in education that speaks the truth and supports children in reaching their goals. I want to be the voice for children that cannot speak up for themselves. I want to advocate for children and advocate for teachers that are working hard to support children in their learning.
