About
I have always had an interest in math and problem-solving, and my interest in designing and developing products has amplified ever since I took my first engineering class in my senior year of high school. In that class, we were introduced to two software applications: AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS. I very fondly remember designing a Batman key chain using SOLIDWORKS, and then materializing said design through the use of a 3D printer. That moment was when I knew that I wanted to become an engineer; it felt like a great accomplishment to bring my own creativity to fruition.
My educational career started at Schoolcraft College, where I was first exposed to the theories and principles behind engineering. I took all of the basic engineering courses, such as Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra and Physics, and was initially interested in receiving a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. However, after learning about electromagnetism, I was set on majoring in electrical engineering instead.
After transferring to the University of Michigan in Dearborn, I was introduced to classes related to electrical engineering such as Circuit Analysis, Electronics, Digital Signal Processing, and Automatic Control Systems, where we implemented MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, and LTSpice in the majority of those classes. When I took these classes, I particularly loved learning about digital signal processing and MATLAB. Not only did I need to take classes that were specific to electrical engineering, I also had to take classes that were shared between electrical and computer engineers, such as Digital Logic, Microprocessors and C++. When I took these shared classes, my interest in computer design and programming drastically increased, and it was then I decided to pursue a dual degree in both electrical and computer engineering. When I took classes that were specific to computer engineering, I particularly loved learning about data structures and operating systems.
I have applied a lot of the theories and principles that I have learned in college to my first and most recent co-op job at ZF TRW. I certainly have a lot more to learn, and I satisfy my thirst for learning about programming, engineering and technology by reading more and more books on the subjects and by watching videos online. It has always been my passion to learn new things that make me scratch my head, and I do not give up when I am having trouble completing a tough project.
