Elijah Sampson

Over the years, I struggled to find my educational niche. I navigated a few different phases that included dabbling as a video game designer, an animator, and a lawyer. While researching the requirements to train as a lawyer, I discovered my love for learning about the law and its applications, so I narrowed my focus into seeking a bachelor’s degree in criminology. With this degree, I plan to pursue the field of forensics and assist in investigations. Since I originally pursued animation, my associate’s degree is in internet and media design, so using the computer skills I acquired there as well as my many computer related hobbies, I hope to have a higher knowledge of computers than most and use it to my advantage within the field of forensics. At the University of Arkansas, I have immersed myself in studying different concepts that include: how criminals think, crime statistics, and police statistics. These studies have helped me think about and see things that I would never have thought about before in a way that allows me to apply it to my future job prospects. While this may not happen at first, a major goal for me is to work at a well-known facility or for a well-known business in my field, whether that is in forensics or not is yet to be seen, but my hope is to work for either the state police or the FBI. With this goal in mind, I have been extra careful when choosing my classes, to ensure that what I learn can be applied to the many different opportunities that will be available to me in my field. I am currently working towards figuring out my masters degree as well. I plan to pursue it while working in my career job, and if possible acquire it through my job itself.
