About

I am an MSc candidate in Medical Microbiology, having completed all coursework, and I hold a BSc in Medical Biochemistry. My academic and practical experience encompasses substantial laboratory work within national reference laboratories, focusing on molecular diagnostics, including quantitative PCR (qPCR), HPV genotyping on COBAS and ALINITY platforms, bacteriology, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. I have proficiently managed Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and played a significant role in various disease surveillance initiatives.. My research interests center on antimicrobial resistance in environmental sources. In addition to my laboratory skills, I serve as the class representative and actively engage in community education initiatives on antimicrobial resistance, integrating my technical expertise with leadership to enhance public health outcomes.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am planning a progressive career in laboratory science and public health. I will begin as a hands-on Medical Microbiologist, focusing on molecular diagnostics, bacteriology, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance. As I advance, I aim to take on roles in laboratory quality management and reference laboratory leadership. In these leadership positions, I will design and implement robust diagnostic pipelines, ensure that quality assurance systems comply with ISO and GLP standards, and enhance capacity in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and genomic epidemiology. In the long term, I aspire to influence regional AMR policy by connecting laboratory evidence with public health strategies, supervising research programs, and training the next generation of African laboratory scientists.

Graduate school interests

My graduate school interests focus on antimicrobial resistance at the interface between humans and the environment, molecular diagnostics, and genomic epidemiology. I aim to utilize whole-genome sequencing and targeted quantitative PCR (qPCR) to monitor resistant strains in both water and clinical sources. Additionally, I want to connect laboratory data to surveillance systems, such as laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and translate these findings into local public health policies. I'm also interested in laboratory quality management and implementation research that enhances diagnostic capacity in low-resource settings.

Outside the classroom

• Reading scientific journals in microbiology and molecular diagnostics.
• Photography focusing on nature and laboratory outreach.
• Playing soccer in a local league.
