About

I am a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout both high school and college. This fall, I will begin pursuing my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine with the goal of becoming a mixed-animal veterinarian serving underserved and rural communities.

My passion for veterinary medicine has been shaped through extensive hands-on experience in animal care, rescue work, and veterinary medicine. I currently work as a veterinary assistant, where I assist with exams, surgery, anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, radiology, and client education. I have also worked as a shift lead at a rescue-affiliated dog daycare and boarding facility, helping care for dogs with complex behavioral and medical needs while supervising staff and coordinating care.

I am especially passionate about preventative medicine, animal behavior, nutrition, and client education because I believe many animal welfare issues can be prevented through better understanding of animals’ physical and emotional needs. My long-term goal is to combine evidence-based medicine with compassionate communication to strengthen the human-animal bond and improve access to veterinary care in underserved communities.

Outside of academics and veterinary medicine, I have also been involved in community service, adaptive recreation programs for adults with disabilities, rescue and foster work, and the performing arts through contemporary dance. I value lifelong learning, service, resilience, and using science and compassion together to create meaningful change.

Honors and awards

  • summa cum laude

I graduated from Boise State University with "summa cum laude" (highest academic honors) due to my 4.0 GPA I had carried throughout all of my years in college.

  • dean's list

I was included on the College of Health Sciences' Dean's Honor List of students throughout all of my years at Boise State University due to my 4.0 GPA, even amidst the changes and challenges the COVID-19 pandemic had created for both students and faculty.

  • gold cord graduation with honors from high school

In lieu of the "Cum Laude" system, my high school awarded white, silver, and gold cords for students to wear to the podium to receive their diploma. I was awarded the gold cord to signify my 4.0 GPA I had carried throughout high school.

  • national honor society

I was a member of my high school's chapter of the National Honor Society. I was selected in honor of my 4.0 GPA and the leadership skills I demonstrated by volunteering in the tutoring lab to help underclassmen who were struggling academically.

  • principals honor roll

I made the Principal's Honor Roll during all four years of high school due to my 4.0 GPA. The Principal's Honor Roll is the highest level of recognition of academic achievement reserved exclusively for students with 4.0 GPA or greater.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I intend to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and plan to pursue a career in mixed-animal practice serving both companion animals and livestock, particularly in underserved or rural communities where access to veterinary services may be limited.

Graduate school interests

I will be pursuing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine with the goal of becoming a mixed-animal veterinarian serving underserved and rural communities. My academic interests include preventative medicine, animal behavior, nutrition, surgery, and client education. Through hands-on experience working as a veterinary assistant and in rescue-affiliated animal care settings, I have developed a strong passion for improving animal welfare through both medical care and owner education.

I am particularly interested in the connection between animal behavior, environmental factors, and overall health, and I hope to use evidence-based medicine and compassionate communication to strengthen the human-animal bond. Long-term, I aim to provide accessible veterinary care while advocating for responsible animal management and improved welfare outcomes for both companion animals and livestock.

Outside the classroom

Outside of academics and veterinary medicine, I enjoy attending rock and metal concerts, contemporary dance, fitness, hiking, and spending time outdoors with animals. Music—especially heavy metal—has been an important creative and emotional outlet for me and has introduced me to a strong sense of community and connection. I also have a long background in dance, which helped develop my discipline, creativity, and self-expression.

I am passionate about animal rescue and behavioral rehabilitation, and I enjoy continuing to learn about animal behavior, training, and nutrition outside of work and school. In my free time, I also enjoy traveling, exploring nature, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. My hobbies reflect many of the values most important to me: resilience, curiosity, compassion, creativity, and lifelong learning.
