About

I am 21 years old and have spent one year of college at Indiana State University and then transferred to Indiana University Bloomington. I am currently working towards my bachelors in elementary and special education, and then intend to work towards my masters in speech and language pathology. I am currently not only a full time student at IU, but also a full time employee at a company called Life Designs Inc. I work with people who have intellectual disabilities in assisted living. My job is great preparation for working with children who have disabilities, I feel it has given me a chance to gain work experience for my desired field. I would consider myself a pretty good student. I prioritize my school work over everything else and have managed to keep my GPA pretty high at a 3.55, all while working a full time job. Because my education is my priority, it can get quite expensive. Therefore, I am grateful for being invited to join honorsociety.org. With all of the scholarship opportunities and financial assistance offered, I feel it really gives students like me a chance to succeed in school, while paying it off in a timely manner.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended job path is to become a teacher for children of all learning abilities, which is why I decided to major in both special and elementary education. I want to be a well rounded teacher who is equip to handle educating children of all different intellectual capacities.

Graduate school interests

After gaining a bachelors in education, I intend to get a masters degree in speech and language pathology to introduce new ways of communication to those who have speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders.

Outside the classroom

Being a full time student and employee, it makes it quite difficult to make time for hobbies. Therefore, with what little free time I do have I spend it with my family and close friends. I enjoy doing anything outdoors or that involves animals.
