Emily Herzmann

Hi! I’m Emily, and I am a senior at Erie High School and I am in dual enrollment classes at Black Hawk College. I have been learning Spanish for four years and got ranked silver on the National Spanish Exam. I have traveled to Hispanic countries before, and I would love to get my minor in Spanish so that I could work in other countries and communicate with a wider variety of people.
During the pandemic, I started doing a lot of art and painting and really enjoyed it. I joined the ceramics class at my school and now they are hobbies I love and I have been selling the pieces I make.
I had never danced in my life until freshmen year. I joined my school's Football Dance and Basketball Dance, where we dance at the halftime of football and basketball games. Dance helped me break out of my shell and I've been so much more outgoing because of it.
I joined NHS as early as I could my sophomore year, and I have had so much fun working with my classmates to better my school and community. We do many different projects and events, and I found how passionate I am in helping others because of it.
I have spent my whole life helping others. I want to continue to dedicate my time to aiding and assisting people. As it is my passion, I would love to go into a career where I can make a difference in someone's life. Although I am undecided about what I want to study, I am primarily interested in nursing, psychology, and pharmaceuticals. Financial aid is so important to me because it can help me accomplish my dream.
