Emily Kessler

Joe Phillip's Insured Retirement at I work as an assistant to the Agent, Joe Phillips and our team head, Lisa Laycock. My primary responsibilities including preparing meetings and servicing clients with forms and intake information. Throughout my nearly two years of employment, I have created internal forms that have simplified the needs of my coworkers and have since become a crucial part of our systems. I am personally very proud of this achievement because it was not intentional to be used by everyone, instead it was to keep myself organized and accurate, but I found that it helped everyone.

Goals and interests

Career goal

To be able to pursue a career in college level academics and research to provide aspiring businesses with the cultural resources to reach demographics of all types. This new world has packed a plethora of new achievements, but it has left many unaware of how to utilize these new technologies. I want to make access to these resources digestible to families that were not raised in the advancements so that they too can partake in what our new world has to offer.

Graduate school interests

I have overcome a lot of challenges in figuring out what the academic world has to offer me and other students. All that I have learned is through my own experiences and researches, as such I have yet to narrow down grad school interests simply because I do not yet know what is available to me.

Outside the classroom

Have you ever seen snow fall over the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona? Or drank from untouched springs? I have, and there has yet to be anything like it. Hiking in pounds of freezer dried foods and extra socks into the heart of flora was the only way I could connect with my dad and his side of the family. Now, I seek the next turn on the trail and the next and the next. I like to climb up trees and scrapping my knees. I like feeling balanced in my life and I don't get that from the concrete jungle of blue lights. I get from having my toes sunk in fresh soil.
I have also begun rock climbing as a way to decompress from the swivel chair I have signed my life over to. I have never found a better community of people eager to engage with me over every little challenge. Even the smallest of holds is important and I find myself focusing on the details of how to engineer the move needed.
I'd like to say another hobby of mine is saving the world and breaking traditions that stiffen growth, but in reality I enjoy simple traditions like sitting around the table with my family. My history and that of my family beats in me and I know that I wouldn't be who I am without it.
