About

Throughout all of my schooling, I went through a large amount of traumatic experiences and family issues at a young age. From middle school and into high school, I did not care greatly about my grades as I struggled with some health issues and just did what was required to pass the class. Once I graduated high school, I truly grew into who I have always wanted to be when it came to schooling and have continued to work hard and push myself. I quickly stopped trying to please others and my main goal is to please myself and make myself happy. I currently work at the YMCA where I spend a large portion of my time with the community and kids as a lifeguard, a swim instructor and a swim coach. My true passion is helping people and with mental health and mental illness being a large portion of my story, I knew that my true calling was in the field of psychology.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My current intended job path is to either be a child psychologist or go into counseling. I have always had a passion for helping others and see the awareness of the mental health area as a continuously growing need within our society. Mental Illness and the stigmatization against it is something that largely impacts not only me, but my community. I have a strong passion for helping those that struggle with mental illness and hope to follow my dreams in helping them.

Graduate school interests

My interests when it comes to Grad School would be in between a small and large campus, while still providing that "college life" that everyone strives for post-high school. My main goal is to get the sense of independence that I strive for and to learn how to be my own person and truly grow into who I am supposed to be.

Outside the classroom

Some things that I find myself doing with my free time are reading books, baking, and spending time with friends & family. From time to time, I do try to get into the water and swim in an attempt to clear my head and be at peace with myself.
