About

I am 18 years old, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas! Education has always been a passion of mine. Learning is something I’ve consistently enjoyed throughout my career as a student; whether it is history, math, writing or science- I’ve always been intrigued and captivated. Probably not the most common sentence you’ll read from a freshman in college. I’m not sure when this persistence began, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve had an ambition to over-achieve in my studies. Maybe to make my parents proud, maybe to make myself proud, or maybe it’s my subconscious fear of not succeeding in society, causing my own inexorable downfall, all because I didn’t try hard enough in school when everyone else did. I would say it’s a combination of all three. Education of this modern-day has come down to who has the higher GPA, the better rank, the more commendable standardized test scores or a prestigious college degree. Education’s a privilege, but it’s also a competition, as it should be. We compete for things in this life worth having, and we are so fortunate to live in a society that values education as much as it deserves. It’s why I feel so lucky to be given the opportunity to expand my knowledge at a university of higher education.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Being young, vulnerable and unaware of what path you want to take in this world, it can be tricky answering the inevitable question from your relatives at every family event,"So, what do you want to do with your life?" But the job I was fortunate enough to acquire, helped me give my family an actual answer. Over the summer, before moving down to Corpus Christi to become an Islander, I worked at a law firm in San Antonio. I was so excited to work there, and little did I know I would fall in love with the world of law. Working around so many successful people inspired me. Their attitudes, work ethic and perseverance made me realize what this world needs to ameliorate the lives of ourselves. Working around attorney's helped finalize my decision in changing my major from Biomedical Science to Criminal Justice. I will forever be grateful of the opportunity I got at my young age to work around such prodigious workers, which who influenced me in my decision to pursue being an attorney.

Graduate school interests

After graduating college, I am planning to continue my education at the University of Texas at Austin for law school. It's a city I have always desired to live in, a great law school and I believe I will fit in very well there.

Outside the classroom

I love spending time with friends and family. I also am an avid musician, I play acoustic guitar and am currently learning piano. I love to sing, and spend most of my time doing so. Performing is something I enjoy and love to do.
