About
My name is Emily Schultheis and I'm currently studying biology with a concentration in evolution, ecology, and conservation at Central Michigan University. I grew up in Midland Michigan and attended Midland Public Schools. Growing up, I participated in many extra curriculars including dance, soccer, and swimming. In high school, I was captain of the varsity girls swim team my senior year, and a member of the state team for three years. I also earned the All State Academic and All America Academic awards for my academic acheivements as a student athlete. After high school I attended Oakland University as an honors student for a year before transferring to Central Michigan University. Now, I'm planning to finish my undergrad with a degree in biology so that I can continue onto grad school. I have always loved being outdoors so I hope to someday use my degree to conserve and protect the natural world around us.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
In the future I would like to use my degree to work in the field. Since they have such an impact on a variety of ecosystems, I'd like to do research on aquatic habitats such as wetlands and the Great Lakes. As a biologist, I hope to help with conservation efforts to keep these habitats healthy for generations to come.
- Graduate school interests
I plan on attending grad school to narrow down my area of study to either marine biology or ecology.
- Outside the classroom
My hobbies include reading, swimming, and creating art. Getting lost in a good book is one of my favorite ways to spend a lazy afternoon. In addition, I like to brush up on my swimming skills whenever I get the chance. I also have a passion for the arts, so I enjoy drawing, painting, and crafting in my free time!
