About
I am currently a Microbiology student at The University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. I am also minoring in Special Education and Rehabilitation, personally focusing on becoming fluent in American Sign Language. I am studying to become a Pathologist's Assistant. I was born in Clear Lake, TX but was raised in Phoenix, AZ since the age of two. Both of my parents worked in the Health Care my whole life. All throughout my childhood our family dinners consisted of medical discussions, exposing me to medicine at a very young age. For the ten years of my life leading up to college I was a swimmer for both my club team (Sun Devil Aquatics) and my Varsity high school team (Desert Vista High School). During my senior year of high school I was a Teacher's Assistant for the nurse. Helping the nurse in an actual workplace taught me a lot by doing hands-on activities. I was also a member of the Ahwatukee Foothills Chapter of National Charity League for four years, and in my last year I held the position of Vice President. Since becoming a student at The University of Arizona I have joined many clubs and organizations including Kappa Alpha Theta, Golden Key International Honour Society, Gamma Beta Phi Society, Pre-Pharmacy Club, and Microbiology Club. I was also on the Dean's List for the College of Science during 2011-2012. One day I hope to become a Pathologist's Assistant and possibly an interpreter of American Sign Language.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I am currently studying to become a Pathologist's Assistant and possibly an interpreter of American Sign Language. I plan to work in a hospital or laboratory setting for my pathology career. For my Special Education and Rehabilitation minor I have taken all classes pertaining to learning American Sign Language.
- Graduate school interests
After I complete my bachelors degree I plan to enroll in a Pathology Assistant program.
- Outside the classroom
I have grown up with a heavily influenced medical lifestyle. Most everything I heard my parents converse about were medical situations. Therefore I grew to love the health care field and eventually found what subject I loved the most, Microbiology. My freshman year of college I decided to take American Sign Language for my second language credit. American Sign Language has become so much more than just a second language to me. After that first class, I couldn't stop taking the classes, even when my second language requirements were satisfied. American Sign Language has become another passion of mine, along with Microbiology, and I am so excited to be able to truthfully say that the careers I am pursuing are ones that I love and am passionate about.
