About

My name is Emiya Spikes, and I am a high school student in the Class of 2027 with a 3.3 GPA. I am currently participating in the McMurry University Summer Dual Credit Program, where I am earning college credits while completing my high school education. I am also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).

To support my interest in healthcare, I have earned certifications in Infection Control and Prevention, HIPAA Awareness for Healthcare Providers, Medical Ethics Training, and Medicare/Medicaid Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training. Additionally, I will begin volunteering with Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) in October, demonstrating my commitment to community service and helping others.

Goals and interests

Career goal

intended career path is to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and eventually advance to a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). After graduating high school in 2027, I plan to continue my education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and obtaining RN licensure. As an RN, I hope to gain experience in critical care, particularly in an intensive care unit (ICU), where I can develop advanced patient care skills and clinical knowledge. After meeting the required experience and educational requirements, I plan to attend a nurse anesthesia program to become a CRNA. My academic achievements, healthcare certifications, dual credit coursework, and volunteer experiences are helping me build the knowledge, discipline, and commitment needed to succeed in this career path and provide high quality care to patients.

Graduate school interests

My likely graduate school interest is pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nurse Anesthesia, which is the educational pathway to becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). This program would allow me to specialize in advanced clinical training, including anesthesia practice, pharmacology, physiology, and critical care management.
In preparation for this path, I am also interested in gaining experience in critical care nursing, particularly in ICU settings, to strengthen my clinical skills and meet future program requirements. Overall, my graduate school focus is centered on advanced practice nursing with a specialization in nurse anesthesia.

Outside the classroom

My hobbies include drawing, painting, reading, and journaling. I have a strong interest in the visual arts and have been recognized for my work through multiple awards, including honors from the Texas Art Education Association, a Judges Merit award from the Spring Art Show, and an Award of Excellence from the Spring Art Show. These experiences reflect my creativity, dedication, and passion for artistic expression.

In addition to art, I enjoy reading and journaling, which allow me to expand my vocabulary (which is very important to me) and reflect on my thoughts, and continue developing my communication and self expression skills.
