Goals and interests
- Career goal
My intended career path would allow my teaching styles to remain in Ohio. Although I adore the middle school that I am currently student teaching at, I would prefer to be a Family Consumer Science educator within grades nine through twelve. I would also see myself extremely involved with my students and wanting to coach cheer, become a class advisor, or become an FCCLA advisor. My teaching styles tend to stick to a strong project-based curriculum where my students learn through scaffolding and putting them at the center of their education. I am a strong follower of Maxine Green and Harry Wong so I ensure to turn to their studies when I begin planning each lesson and classroom routine.
- Graduate school interests
To obtain my masters, I think it would be more feasible to complete online after I become more situated as a new teacher. There are a few graduate schools I am looking into such as University of Florida (Program of Study - Teacher Leadership for School Improvement), Western Michigan University (POS - Workforce Education and Development), University of Illinois - Urbana Champagne (POS - Learning Design and Leadership), and I have also been looking into Kennesaw State University (POS - Educational Leadership AND/OR Teacher Leadership).
- Outside the classroom
Kayaking, reading self-help and psychology books, working with dogs, campus organizations, volunteering to help my students in FCCLA, brainstorming on curriculum ideas, traveling, and talking with possible BGSU students as well as helping freshman friends as much as I can!
